THE STORY
In North Carolina, there is always the constant debate of MOUNTAINS or BEACH, TOMATO based bbq or VINEGAR based bbq... but besides the fact that I am 50/50 ion my choice of BBQ, I am always 100% mountains over beach.
Irony always enjoys playing its hard in my life and it seems the past year has been filled with longing brides wanting beach weddings and sandy engagements. It was during all of these trips East that I rediscovered the other side of the beach...
the calmer, chiller, go with life, move when ever you want, enjoy the moment beach life. Though the beach is not covered with endless acres of deep emerald spruce forests and rushing waterfalls, it does have endless light and color... teals, emeralds, hues of purples and oranges... a dynamic crayon box of color. You know the 48 count color crayon box not the 12 count.
Sally, Amy and I started our little beach adventure with of course all the Spotify lists we could think of including Sally and Amys recent love, Glass Animals. I quickly redirected them to my fav, Junip. Our first stop in Wilmington, coffee and scouting. A quick trip to the Annex for a pour over coffee and some local insider information on best locations to photograph which resulted in the general consensus to head towards Carolina Beach. After coffee, wardrobe change from our favorite clothing supplier- GOODWILL.
This gave us treasures such as cut off Jorts and some great jackets. Next up, donuts with Trix cereal on them, bacon topped deliciousness and my favorite, the peanut butter cup donut. Now we officially had caffeine and sugar in our system, it was time to get photo taking. Its easy to release 2 teenagers free to roam a beach and just take photos--- the harder part, keeping up with them and taking photos in direct sunlight. But it was all worth it!
They took me over to their favorite spot near Fort Fisher. Little did we realize it, but the recent storm had brought in every possible mosquito and no-seeum known to man into that vicinity. The girls toughed it out and the next day we all had at least 100 bites and red marks on our body to show our battle wounds. We rounded off the day with one of the best East Coast burgers I have ever had from Hang Ten Grill.
